Construir Cine is a one-of-a-kind Festival in the region, and its primary purpose is the finding and promotion of films that address universal issues that affect workers around the world, and also consider work as a force of change in people's lives.
Well aware of the power of stories to inspire people and allow them to see the world from another perspective, Construir Cine takes on the challenge of linking art to social impact, and also to be an environment aimed at disseminating and rewarding audiovisual works that seek to influence the social and labor reality of Argentina and the world
This seventh edition of Construir Cine finds us all going through moments that we never imagined, where reality surpasses fiction. It’s not time to give up. Today, more than ever, the entire team of Construir Cine redoubles its efforts, with health as a priority, to remain committed to our objective of promoting the production and dissemination of audiovisual works that challenge us and lead us to think about the value of our work as a vital and transforming element. Along this path, we find organizations and colleagues from all areas and sectors that join us and collaborate with us to articulate solutions and alternatives according to the times. To all of them and to the filmmakers from all over the world who sent their works and are part of this unusual edition. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Gerardo Martínez, General Secretary of the Construction Workers Union of the Republic of Argentina and President of Build Cinema, inaugurating the sixth edition of the Festival.
As to content, the works to be submitted must tell stories related to the world of work and workers. Under this thematic area, the festival is looking for stories of courage, progress, fellowship, simple or grandiloquent stories that strike a chord with viewers, or educate and report on situations that should be open to social discussion. Within the wide scope of the topic, by way of example, please find below the four main themes on which Construir TV and Construir Cine are based on.
We believe that the social dimension is the basis upon which better societies are to be built. Subjects such as solidarity, ecological awareness, sustainability, care for the planet in which we live, fundamental rights at work, gender equality, inclusion, child labor, forced labor, migrant labor, disability and labor, and social protection, among other topics, are valid themes to apply for the contest.
